Status under the CISG:

 Contracting State

Norway has been a CISG Contracting State since 1 August 1989.

As authorized by Art. 94 CISG, Norway has declared that the CISG does not apply to sales contracts between a party from Norway and another party from Denmark, Finland, Iceland or Sweden (i.e. intra-Nordic trade).

Further information:

Norway had signed the Convention in accordance with Art. 91(1) CISG on 26 May 1981. It subsequently deposited its instrument of ratification in accordance with Art. 91(2), (4) CISG on 20 July 1988.

Implementation of the Convention into Norwegian domestic law

Norway had initially implemented the CISG into its domestic law by incorporating the CISG’s provisions into the Norwegian domestic Sale of Goods Act.
