CISG Contracting and Non-Contracting States by foreign trade volume

This page lists the world's States and territories and ranks them according to their foreign trade volume, i.e. according to the amount of international trade conducted by the companies and merchants based in each territory.

The ranking below draws on statistics about Merchandise Exports in 2017 and Merchandise Imports in 2017 compiled and published by the World Trade Organisation (WTO). As the CISG (potentially) applies to exports from and imports into a given territory alike, the present ranking is based on each territory's overall foreign trade volume, calculated by adding the volume of exports and of imports.

Within the ranking, CISG Contracting States and territories are listed in bold type, while CISG Non-Contracting States and territories are listed in normal type. States and territories whose status under the CISG is currently uncertain are listed in bold italics.
